Simon specialises in commercial dispute resolution, with particular expertise in acting for lenders in professional indemnity claims.

Simon also has a depth of experience in pursuing recoveries in the context of individual and corporate insolvency. He acted for the successful lender against a personal guarantor before the Court of Appeal in the leading case of Norwich and Peterborough –v- McGuinness. Simon is regularly instructed by banks, financial institutions, debt purchasers and loan servicers to advise on and defend claims, having been instructed by the successful lender in Southern Pacific Securities –v- Walker, decided by the Supreme Court, which defined ‘credit’ for the purposes of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

In addition, Simon takes an interest in resolving disputes in the construction industry, acting for employers, contractors and project funders. His clients often make use of adjudication and other forms of ADR, failing which claims are litigated in the Technology and Construction Court in London.
