South African qualified Associate
Emma is a South African qualified lawyer in our Disputes Resolution team, she has a wide range of commercial disputes experience having previously practiced as a barrister in South Africa for 10 years before moving to the UK in 2020.
Emma is an accredited arbitrator and mediator with the Arbitration Foundation of South Africa. During her time at the South African bar, she was briefed by leading Private Banks and Corporate Funding Banks. She was instructed and appeared in the case of Budge NO and others v Midnight Storm Investments 256 (Pty) Ltd and others, this case created the leading case in winding up of solvent companies in South Africa and remains the dominant authority on the subject.
Since moving to the UK, Emma has worked in City practices with an emphasis in International Civil Fraud work, including the UK’s largest fully remote hearing spanning 12 weeks. Emma has worked with clients in, Ukraine, Russia, France, Switzerland, China and the United States.
