Catriona Lewis

Catriona is a Partner in RK’s Dispute Resolution Group. She has over 14 years’ experience advising on shipping disputes for a variety of global clients in both arbitration and the Commercial Court in London.

Catriona has a particular focus on arbitration, and specialises in disputes under charterparties, shipbuilding contracts and commodities contracts brought under LMAA, LCIA, ICC Rules as well as ad-hoc arbitrations and appeals from arbitration awards in the Commercial Court.

Recent cases in which Catriona has acted in the High Court include [2021] EWHC 2288 (Comm), CVLC Three Carrier Corporation and Another v Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Co (The “Anbar” and The “Hillah”) and [2021] EWHC 551 (Comm)
On the non-contentious side, Catriona acts for both Sellers and Buyers in and ship sale and purchase transactions. She is a fluent Russian and French speaker.
Clients worked for: Al Iraqia Shipping Services and Oil Trading, Arab Maritime Petroleum Transport Company (AMPTC), Donrechflot, Geden Lines, Macsteel International, MUR Shipping, Norstar Shipping, Toisa Limited and various P&I Clubs.

Catriona joined Lax & Co LLP upon qualification at Lawrence Graham in 2007, where she had worked with Mike Lax and Stuart Dench in the Shipping Group. Catriona is noted in The Legal 500, UK edition (2024), for her “prowess in arbitration proceedings”.
